Hyderabad: Five-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Murdered by Mother's Live-In Partner in Brutal Kamareddy Attack
In a shocking and tragic incident, a five-year-old boy was allegedly smothered and beaten to death by his mother's live-in partner in a brutal assault at their rented residence in Kamareddy town on Friday. Police have swiftly arrested both the accused man and the boy's mother in connection with this heinous crime.
Details of the Alleged Assault
The victim, identified as Shravan, was allegedly killed around 4:30 PM at their house located in Sriramnagar Colony while his mother, Laxmi, was away from the premises. His eight-year-old sister, Sameera, was present in the house during the time of the alleged incident and served as the lone eyewitness.
Based on Sameera's detailed statement to authorities, police reported that Laxminarasimhulu, a labourer who had been living with Laxmi, arrived at the house and attacked Shravan without any apparent provocation. The assault was described as exceptionally violent and sustained.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Kamareddy Additional SP B Chaitanya Reddy provided crucial insights into the case, stating, "We have arrested Laxminarasimhulu and Laxmi. They allegedly planned to eliminate the boy, who has mental health problems, and send Sameera to her grandmother to clear their way for marriage. The accused will be produced before the magistrate for judicial remand."
The incident first came to light after relatives were informed that the boy had been taken to the government hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him dead upon arrival.
Graphic Account from Eyewitness
Sameera provided relatives with a harrowing account of the assault, detailing that the accused:
- Repeatedly slapped the young boy
- Poured chilli powder into his eyes
- Allegedly smothered him by closing his mouth and nose
- Threw him to the ground multiple times
- Took him to the bathroom where he poured water on him and stomped on him
She further stated that after the brutal assault, the accused reportedly forced her to clean the scene. When blood began oozing from Shravan's nose, Laxminarasimhulu carried him on his shoulder to the government hospital, claiming the boy had become unconscious at home.
Family Background and Complaint
In a formal complaint, the boy's relative D Ramesh, a daily wage labourer, claimed that Laxmi is his niece who had recently shifted to Kamareddy with her two children. According to police information, Laxmi's husband T Bhaskar had reportedly abandoned the family soon after Shravan's birth five years ago.
Police revealed that Laxmi had initially stayed with her father in Rajampet village and travelled daily to Kamareddy, where she worked as a sweeper at the local bus stand. On Ramesh's complaint, police registered a murder case under section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious questions about child protection and domestic violence prevention measures in the region.
