Hyderabad Advocate Murder: Police Detain Educationists for Questioning
Hyderabad Advocate Murder: Educationists Detained

Hyderabad: Following the murder of advocate Khaza Moizuddin, who was allegedly run over by an SUV near Masab Tank on Saturday morning, the city police took two educationists — a father and son — into custody. They were brought to the Abids police station. However, as of Sunday night, they have yet to be formally cited as accused in the case.

Investigation Progress

Sources indicated that the probe has made significant progress and efforts are underway to identify the culprits. Prima facie, investigators found that four persons were inside the SUV when it struck Moizuddin. CCTV cameras reportedly captured their photographs.

“The CCTV footage showed the SUV moving towards Kadthal on the Srisailam Highway. The vehicle did not have number plates, indicating that the crime was pre-planned,” sources said.

Suspected Involvement

Against the backdrop of Moizuddin’s family suspecting the involvement of a city-based educationist family in the murder, police found that one of the family’s key associates has been missing since the incident.

Investigators believe the accused had conducted a recce of the victim’s movements. After confirming that Moizuddin would leave his residence around 5.30 am, they allegedly waited for him before mowing him down with the SUV. During the investigation, police found that the vehicle used by the accused belonged to one Vinay. Based on the information given by Vinay, the police are trying to determine who had possession of the vehicle.

Land Disputes and Threats

Police have gathered details of several Waqf-related land disputes in which Moizuddin was allegedly trying to protect properties from the educationist family. Family members of the victim claimed that Moizuddin had applied for a weapon licence, citing threats to his life, but police allegedly denied permission.

Protests and Allegations

Meanwhile, AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain, along with the party cadre, staged a protest at Abids police station on Sunday, demanding the arrest of the two educationists. Moizuddin’s son, Mohammed Farhan, was also present. Farhan alleged that the two educationists were being given privileges inside the police station, such as being made to sit in an air-conditioned room and given access to mobile phones.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
