A 25-year-old bodybuilder and YouTuber, SK Mahboob, also known as Masood Chandi, was fatally attacked at his residence in Golconda, Hyderabad, on Friday evening. The police have launched a manhunt for the suspects, including his brother-in-law.
Victim Profile and Incident Details
Mahboob, who worked as an electrician, gained popularity on YouTube under the alias Masood Chandi, where he posted bodybuilding videos and amassed over 2,500 followers. He was known for wearing silver jewellery in his videos, according to Tolichowki ACP Syed Fayaz.
The attack occurred around 3:30 pm when Mahboob's brother-in-law, SK Sohail, along with his associates Affu and Jaber, arrived at his house in Kummarwadi, Golconda. They allegedly argued with Mahboob and struck him with iron rods, causing severe head injuries that led to his death on the spot, as confirmed by Additional DCP Krishna Goud.
Background of the Dispute
Investigations revealed that Mahboob had married Salma Begum from Bada Bazaar, Golconda, 18 months ago, and the couple had a six-month-old son. Both families disapproved of the marriage, and relations had recently soured due to Mahboob's alleged mistreatment of his wife. On Monday, Mahboob sent Salma and their son to her parental home following differences.
“Mahboob’s in-laws were unhappy. Sohail, along with his associates, went to Mahboob’s house to confront him and, during the argument, attacked him with a rod,” the ACP said.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Three special teams have been formed to apprehend the absconding suspects. “As of now, we suspect there were three accused. We are trying to arrest them quickly and ascertain the exact reason for the murder,” the additional DCP stated.
The body was transported to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem. Based on a complaint from the victim's father, Ismail, a case was registered under Section 103(1) (murder) of the BNS against Sohail and others.
