Hyderabad: Drunken Altercation Leads to Fatal Brotherly Attack in Miyapur

A tragic incident unfolded in Hyderabad's Miyapur area on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old auto driver allegedly at the hands of his younger brother during a drunken altercation. The police have confirmed the arrest of the accused, who has been remanded to judicial custody.

Details of the Fatal Incident

The deceased, identified as Raju, resided with his two brothers and their mother, Sunkamma, in Miyapur. According to police reports, Raju returned home around 7:15 PM in an inebriated state and initiated an argument with his youngest brother, Guru Swamy, a school bus driver, over a trivial matter. The situation escalated rapidly, leading to a violent confrontation.

KPHB ACP E Ravi Kiran Reddy provided a chilling account of the events: "Enraged by the argument, Guru Swamy picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed Raju in the neck. As Raju collapsed to the floor, Guru Swamy then went outside, retrieved a large boulder, and smashed it onto Raju's head, causing fatal injuries on the spot."

Police Response and Investigation

Alerted by local residents, Miyapur police swiftly arrived at the scene. They shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, Guru Swamy fled immediately after the incident but was tracked down by a dedicated police team near his house later that night.

A murder case has been registered under section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a formal complaint lodged by the mother, Sunkamma. Guru Swamy was produced before a court on Wednesday, where he was remanded in judicial custody as the investigation continues.

Background and Community Impact

This shocking crime has sent ripples through the local community in Miyapur, highlighting the dangers of alcohol-fueled disputes within families. Raju, known as an auto driver, and Guru Swamy, a school bus driver, were previously living together without any known history of severe conflicts, making this incident particularly distressing for neighbors and relatives.

The police are emphasizing the importance of conflict resolution and the severe consequences of violent actions, especially in domestic settings. Further inquiries are ongoing to uncover any underlying issues that may have contributed to this tragic outcome.
