Hyderabad Police Constable Honored with Gallantry Award for Courageous Pub Operation
In a remarkable display of bravery, Cyberabad police head constable Marri Venkat Reddy has been selected for the prestigious Gallantry Award. This recognition comes after he sustained a serious bullet injury while apprehending a notorious thief, Bhatula Prabhakar, during a daring operation at Prism Pub in Hyderabad's Financial District last year.
Republic Day Honors for Telangana's Uniformed Services
On the eve of Republic Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced medals for 24 officials from Telangana serving across various uniformed services. Among these honorees, 15 are distinguished police officials who have demonstrated exceptional service and dedication to their duties.
The Dangerous Operation That Earned Recognition
In February 2025, acting on credible intelligence about Prabhakar's planned arrival at Prism Pub, a specialized police team including Venkat Reddy meticulously laid a trap to capture the notorious criminal. After successfully apprehending the accused and during the process of shifting him, Prabhakar unexpectedly opened fire directly at Venkat Reddy.
Despite sustaining a gunshot wound in the line of duty, Venkat Reddy displayed extraordinary courage and determination. Alongside his dedicated team members, he managed to pin down the armed suspect and ensured his complete arrest, preventing any further threat to public safety.
President's Medal for Distinguished Service Recipients
The President's Medal for Distinguished Service (PMS) will be awarded to two exemplary officers: additional superintendent of police (Intelligence Security Wing) MGS Prakash Rao and Counter Intelligence Cell sub-inspector of police Annu Damodar Reddy. These awards recognize their outstanding contributions to intelligence and security operations.

In the MSM for Home Guards category, three Greyhounds personnel—B Renuka, M Ravi, and P Jangaiah—will receive well-deserved awards for their service. The fire services department sees three leading fire fighters honored: Singh Ghaveri Rajender, Hanumantha Rao Gouti, and K Ravindar. Furthermore, two officials from the prison department—deputy Jailor M Sudhakar Reddy and assistant deputy jailor K Ashok Kumar—have also been selected for recognition.
