In a decisive move to strengthen law and order after dark, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar led a surprise night patrol across the city's South West zone on Sunday. The unannounced inspection, which lasted from midnight until 3 am, was aimed at getting a firsthand look at on-ground policing and evaluating the state of public safety for citizens.
On-Ground Assessment and Key Visits
The commissioner's inspection route covered major roads, crucial junctions, and sensitive locations falling under the jurisdictions of the Langar Houz and Tolichowki police stations. Demonstrating a comprehensive approach, Sajjanar did not limit his review to public spaces. He personally visited several hotels, shops, and other late-night establishments in the Tolichowki area. During these visits, he explicitly cautioned owners and managers against operating beyond the legally permitted hours, reinforcing the importance of adhering to regulations.
Focus on Habitual Offenders and Police Station Readiness
A significant part of the commissioner's strategy involved a direct approach to crime prevention. Sajjanar visited the residences of habitual history-sheeters in areas like MD Lines, Asham Nagar, and Defence Colony. There, he issued stern warnings, advising them against returning to criminal activities and emphasizing the police department's vigilant watch.
The patrol culminated at the Tolichowki police station, where Commissioner Sajjanar conducted a thorough review of operational protocols. He meticulously examined the station's general diary, night entries, duty rosters, and attendance records.
