Hyderabad House Fire Claims Lives of Mother and Daughter, Police Investigate Suspicious Death

A tragic house fire in the early hours of Monday resulted in the deaths of a 40-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter in Narayanadasguda village, Chevella, Rangareddy district, Hyderabad. The incident has taken a suspicious turn as police have ruled out an electrical short circuit as the cause.

Victims Identified and Family Details

The deceased have been identified as Lavanya, aged 40, and her teenage daughter Pavani. According to police reports, the family had been residing in the village for nearly two decades. Lavanya is survived by her husband, Srinivas, who works as a vegetable vendor, and their son.

The husband sustained injuries in the fire, while the son was staying with his grandparents at the time of the incident, which occurred around 4 am in their two-bedroom house.

Police Investigation and Suspicious Circumstances

Police have registered a suspicious death case at the Chevella police station and are probing all possible angles, including the potential involvement of the woman's husband. Initially, suspicion pointed to an electrical short circuit, but further examination by the clues team and the electricity department has ruled out this possibility.

"The mother and daughter suffered extensive burn injuries. Since an electrical fault has been ruled out, we are investigating all possible causes. We are not ruling out anyone's involvement," stated a Chevella police officer.

Emergency Response and Medical Treatment

Fire tenders from the Chevella fire station responded promptly to the emergency, dousing the flames within 15–20 minutes. Both victims sustained severe burn injuries and were initially shifted to a local government hospital before being referred to Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in Hyderabad, where they succumbed to their injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, with police treating the case as suspicious due to the lack of an electrical cause. Further updates are expected as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
