Neighbours Alert Police After Hearing Screams
According to police officials, the tragedy unfolded at approximately 5:30 am on Tuesday when neighbours heard distressing screams emanating from Moin's residence. Rushing to the scene, they discovered Moin bleeding profusely from a neck wound, with his wife, Sukkala Avanthi, standing nearby. The neighbours promptly notified the police and assisted in transporting Moin to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, he died while undergoing care. Police immediately took Avanthi into custody for questioning.
Confession Reveals Motive Linked to Rs 7 Lakh Loan
During interrogation, Avanthi confessed to stabbing her husband, citing harassment over a financial matter. The couple, who had a love marriage about ten years ago and have two children, had been experiencing marital strain due to recent financial difficulties. Moin had undergone bypass surgery and was pressuring Avanthi's brother to repay Rs 7 lakh borrowed several months prior. Police reported that Moin, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, harassed Avanthi daily regarding this debt.
Mandamarri SI Naresh provided details: "Avanthi had a love marriage with Moin about a decade ago, and the couple has two children. Recently, differences arose between them due to financial hardships. Moin had undergone bypass surgery and was pressuring Avanthi's brother to return the Rs 7 lakh he had borrowed a few months ago. Under the influence of alcohol, Moin allegedly harassed Avanthi daily over the issue. On Tuesday morning, during an argument, she repeatedly stabbed him in the neck."
Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Following the incident, police secured the crime scene and seized a blood-stained knife from the victim's house as evidence. Moin's body was transferred for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have registered a case against Avanthi under section 103 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to murder charges. She is scheduled to be produced before the court on Wednesday for judicial remand, where legal proceedings will commence.
