A tragic incident unfolded in Hyderabad's Bahadurpura area, where a 30-year-old housewife was stabbed to death by her husband on Sunday following prolonged domestic disputes. The accused was taken into custody on Monday.
Victim and Accused Identified
The deceased has been identified as Nishad Fatima, wife of Suleiman Bin Maji, a pan shop operator from Chirag Ali Nagar in Kishanbagh, Bahadurpura. The couple's troubled marriage had a history of separations and reconciliations.
Timeline of Events
Suleiman married Nishad Fatima in 2016. The following year, Nishad gave birth to a daughter, after which Suleiman allegedly began avoiding her. Nishad returned to her parents' home and, in 2019, obtained 'khula' (a form of divorce initiated by the wife under Islamic law) from him. Suleiman immediately married another woman, but a year later he approached Nishad again and requested her to return to him.
They remarried in 2020, and Nishad gave birth to a son in March 2022. However, Suleiman continued to avoid her, and only in December 2025 did he approach her family and take Nishad back home with their two children. The marital discord continued, and Nishad spent most of her time at her parents' home in Kishanbagh, according to Bahadurpura inspector V Madan Lal.
The Murder
On Sunday morning, when Nishad's mother tried to call her, the phone was switched off. The family tried again in the evening, but both Nishad's and Suleiman's phones remained switched off. Concerned, the family sent Nishad's nephew to check on her. He found her lying dead on the floor of the house.
“Suleiman slit Nishad’s throat. He locked their two children in a room and fled the house,” the inspector said.
Police Action
Police shifted the body for a post-mortem examination and registered a murder case against Suleiman. Further investigations are underway.
