Major Fire Erupts in Hyderabad Warehouse, Threatens Residential Area
A significant fire incident caused widespread panic in the Shivrampally residential locality of Hyderabad on Sunday, as flames engulfed a warehouse filled with decorative materials, sending thick plumes of black smoke billowing across the neighborhood.
Rapid Spread Due to Inflammable Contents
The blaze originated in a godown situated within Sarva Reddy Colony, which contained substantial quantities of plastic decorative items and flex materials. Given the highly combustible nature of these stored goods, the fire spread with alarming speed, intensifying within minutes and creating a serious hazard for adjacent structures.
The flames quickly extended to a nearby residential building, triggering alarm among local residents. Dense smoke enveloped the entire colony, leading to breathing difficulties and forcing inhabitants to evacuate their homes in a state of fear and urgency.
Swift Firefighting Response and Evacuation
Fire department teams arrived promptly at the scene after receiving emergency alerts and immediately launched comprehensive firefighting operations. According to Station Fire Officer Chandra Naik, the responders acted decisively to contain the blaze and prevent further escalation.
"As soon as we observed the smoke moving toward the adjacent residential building, we prioritized evacuating all occupants to ensure their complete safety," stated SFO Naik, highlighting the proactive measures taken during the crisis.
Preliminary Investigation and Property Damage
Initial assessments indicate that an electrical short circuit may have been the trigger for the devastating fire. However, officials have emphasized that a thorough investigation is currently in progress to definitively establish the exact cause.
The property loss from the incident is estimated to range between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported, as the warehouse was unoccupied at the time the fire broke out. Local police have registered a formal case and initiated further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
