Hyderabad Woman Arrested for Murdering Abusive Husband
Hyderabad woman kills husband after domestic abuse

In a tragic incident from Hyderabad, a 34-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband after enduring prolonged domestic abuse and constant accusations of infidelity. The case has sent shockwaves through the Meerpet community and highlights the severe consequences of domestic violence.

The Night of the Incident

Alampally Sandhya, a sweeper employed with the Meerpet municipal corporation, confessed to killing her 42-year-old husband Alampally Vijay Kumar, an auto driver, on the night of October 20. The incident occurred at their residence in Pragathi Nagar Colony, Jillelguda, following yet another violent confrontation.

According to police reports, Vijay Kumar returned home intoxicated that night and began physically assaulting Sandhya. The altercation escalated when he started kicking her while accusing her of having an affair with a coworker named Jeevan. This pattern of suspicion and harassment had been ongoing throughout their marriage.

The Confession and Cover-up Attempt

In what police describe as a fit of rage, Sandhya strangled her husband first using her dupatta and then with a rope to ensure his death. After committing the act, she attempted to stage the scene by claiming her husband had fallen unconscious near the bathroom area of their home.

The victim was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Initially, the case was registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for suspicious death based on a complaint filed by Vijay Kumar's 70-year-old mother, Alampally Sathyamma.

Case Transformation and Arrest

The investigation took a dramatic turn when Vijay Kumar's brother, Vijay Bhaskar, informed authorities that Sandhya had confessed to the crime. This crucial information led police to alter the case from suspicious death to murder and destruction of evidence under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the BNS.

Following her confession, law enforcement officials recovered the murder weapons - the rope and dupatta - from the couple's residence. Sandhya was formally arrested on Monday and produced before a court, which remanded her to judicial custody for 14 days.

The Meerpet police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to collect additional medical and forensic evidence before filing a detailed chargesheet in the case.
