IAS Officer Hans Questions Tender Scam FIR, Seeks Fair Probe

Patna: IAS officer Sanjeev Hans, who is being sought by the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) in connection with an alleged tender scam, has written a four-page letter to SVU ADG Pankaj Kumar Darad, questioning the FIR lodged against him. Hans claimed that the case was registered without sufficient evidence and is based on allegations similar to an earlier case that was quashed by the Patna High Court. He stated that the information shared by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) did not indicate any corruption or irregularity in the tender process.

Defense and Allegations

Defending himself, Hans explained that tenders worth more than Rs 3.5 crore are approved collectively by departmental tender committees and not by the secretary alone. He also asserted that he had no connection with the financial transactions between the companies mentioned in the FIR and questioned why he was made an accused without any direct evidence. Seeking a fair and impartial probe, Hans urged the SVU to investigate the matter based on official records and facts, while assuring full cooperation. Meanwhile, the SVU continued its search for him.

Ongoing Investigation

The SVU has been actively pursuing the case, and Hans' letter adds a new dimension to the investigation. The officer's legal team is expected to challenge the FIR in court, citing the previous high court quashing. The development has drawn attention to the tender processes in Bihar's bureaucracy.
