Security Forces Seize Illegal Firearm in Aizawl

In a joint operation conducted by the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police at Tuikhuahtlang in Aizawl on Wednesday, security personnel successfully seized an illegal firearm and ammunition. The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the illegal possession of arms and ammunition in the area.

Recovery and Detention

During the search operation, the security forces recovered one .32 mm pistol, five live rounds of ammunition, and 16 spent cartridge cases. One individual, identified as a non-tribal, was detained at the scene. The recovered firearm, ammunition, and the detained man were subsequently handed over to the Mizoram Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Investigation Underway

Officials confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the source of the weapon and to ascertain whether it is linked to any criminal or insurgent activities, including cross-border gun running. The authorities are leaving no stone unturned in probing the matter to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
