Indian National Found Guilty of Rape in London Hotel Luring Scheme

An Indian citizen residing in Northolt, London, has been convicted of multiple sexual offenses after luring a woman to a hotel under the false pretence of offering her employment. Gurwinder Singh, aged 37, was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court last week, with police issuing a stark warning that he may be a serial offender who targeted specific communities.

Details of the Deceptive Crime and Violent Assault

The court proceedings revealed a meticulously planned scheme where Singh posed as a woman on WhatsApp, contacting potential victims with offers of work. In one specific instance, he told a woman he could secure her shifts as a care worker and arranged to meet her at a hotel in Paddington on June 21, 2025. He falsely claimed she would be assisting in the care of an injured sportsman.

Singh met the victim at the station, presenting himself as a care assistant who would be working alongside her. Upon arrival at the hotel, he left her alone in a room, stating the patient would arrive shortly. He then returned, declaring he was the "sportsman," undressed, and demanded a massage. When she refused, he became violent, proceeding to sexually assault and rape her. The traumatized woman managed to escape and fled in a taxi.

Threats and Police Investigation Uncover Disturbing Pattern

In a further attempt to intimidate his victim, Singh called her that evening, threatening that the incident had been recorded and would go viral if she reported it to authorities. Demonstrating immense courage, she disregarded these threats and reported the crime to the police the following day.

Detectives launched an investigation, tracking Singh down to the same hotel on August 11, where he was arrested. A search of his home led to the seizure of electronic devices, which provided concrete evidence that he had impersonated the woman his victim was communicating with on WhatsApp.

The investigation took a more alarming turn when police discovered Singh had booked rooms at the same Paddington hotel on more than 100 separate occasions between December 2024 and August 2025. This extensive pattern of bookings has led officers to strongly believe he may have victimized other women, operating as a potential serial offender.

Appeal for Potential Victims and Sentencing

Authorities are now urgently appealing to women, particularly within the Indian community residing in areas like Hayes or Southall, to come forward if they believe they may have been targeted by Singh. Police suspect he may have deliberately focused his predatory activities on a specific demographic.

Gurwinder Singh was convicted on multiple charges, including rape, attempted rape, assault by penetration, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of common assault. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 15, awaiting the full weight of the law for his heinous crimes.
