Elderly Man Drugged and Robbed by Temporary Caretaker in Indore

In a shocking incident from Indore, a 75-year-old man was allegedly drugged and robbed by his temporary caretaker in the Gumashta Nagar area. The accused, identified as Yash Bansal from Firozabad, fled with gold ornaments worth several lakhs of rupees after executing a pre-planned crime.

Victim's Vulnerability and Caretaker Arrangement

The victim, Omprakash Moongad, resides in the Dwarakapuri area and is unable to move without assistance due to his age and health condition. His regular caregiver, Dilip Singh from Rajgarh, was on leave, prompting the family to arrange a temporary replacement through an agency operator named Umrao Singh.

According to police reports, the accused Yash Bansal was hired for a 10-day period to provide care for the elderly man. This temporary arrangement turned into a nightmare when the caretaker allegedly betrayed the trust placed in him.

Execution of the Crime

On Sunday, the accused reportedly executed his criminal plan by mixing intoxicating substances into the victim's food. Once the 75-year-old man lost consciousness, the caretaker allegedly escaped with valuable gold items including a chain, bracelet, and other ornaments.

Police conducted a thorough spot inspection at the victim's residence and recovered significant evidence including:

  • Traces of intoxicating substances
  • Food items suspected to contain the drugs
  • Other relevant materials from the crime scene

All recovered items have been seized as evidence for further investigation and forensic analysis.

Police Investigation and Manhunt

Assistant Commissioner of Police Shivendu Joshi stated that preliminary tracking of the accused's mobile phone location placed him first in Dewas and later showed movement toward Rajasthan. Based on this information, police teams have been dispatched to multiple locations to track down the fugitive caretaker.

The investigation has expanded to include questioning of the agency operator Umrao Singh, who facilitated the hiring of the accused. Police are examining the hiring process and verification procedures followed by the agency to understand how such a criminal could be placed in a vulnerable household.

This case highlights the vulnerability of elderly individuals who require constant care and assistance. It raises serious questions about the screening processes employed by caregiving agencies and the need for more rigorous background checks for individuals placed in sensitive positions involving vulnerable populations.

Police have assured the public that they are pursuing all leads and utilizing technological resources to apprehend the accused. The recovery of the stolen gold ornaments remains a priority, along with ensuring that the victim receives appropriate support following this traumatic experience.
