Indore Elderly Couple Endures Night of Terror Over Son's Missing Debt

In a shocking incident in Indore, an elderly couple faced a harrowing night of captivity after three men allegedly held them hostage in their own home, demanding information about their missing son involved in a financial dispute. The event unfolded in the Heera Nagar area, highlighting the dangers of escalating debt conflicts.

Hostage Situation Unfolds Over Missing Son

According to ACP Rubina Mizwani, the incident occurred on Sunday at the Maruti Nagar residence of 63-year-old Ramesh Joshi, a retired employee who now works as a security guard. The accused, identified as Abhishek, Ankit, and Gulshan, arrived at the home seeking to recover approximately Rs 40 lakh from Joshi's son, Ankit Joshi. The younger Joshi has been untraceable for nearly 20 days following a financial dispute reportedly running into crores of rupees.

When the elderly couple could not provide any details about their son's whereabouts, the trio allegedly confined them inside the house. They switched off the couple's mobile phones to prevent communication and issued death threats, creating an atmosphere of intense fear. The accused further warned that if Ankit did not surface, they would forcibly take the couple to Bihar, adding to the couple's distress.

Night of Captivity and Daring Escape

The accused remained inside the house throughout the night, keeping constant watch over Ramesh Joshi and his wife. The situation took a turn the next morning when Joshi managed to persuade the men to allow him to leave for work. One of the accused, Gulshan, accompanied him to maintain surveillance.

Later in the evening, near Meghdoot Garden, Joshi seized an opportunity to evade Gulshan. He rushed straight to the Heera Nagar police station to report the ordeal, detailing the threats and confinement his wife was still enduring back at home.

Police Swiftly Rescue Victim and Detain Accused

Acting on Joshi's complaint, police teams promptly reached the couple's residence. They rescued the elderly woman, who had been held captive, and detained all three accused on the spot. An FIR has been registered against Abhishek, Ankit, and Gulshan for charges including wrongful confinement and verbal abuse. Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is underway to uncover more details about the debt dispute and the missing son's involvement.

This incident underscores the severe risks faced by families in debt-related conflicts and the importance of timely police intervention. The community in Indore has been alerted to such threats, with local authorities emphasizing vigilance and reporting mechanisms to prevent similar occurrences.
