Indore House Fire Averted: Police and Residents Rescue Trapped Family from Blaze
A swift and coordinated response by Khajrana police and local residents successfully averted what could have been a major tragedy in Indore on Saturday afternoon. A house in Sanjeevani Nagar caught fire, trapping a woman and three children on the terrace, but timely intervention ensured their safe rescue.
Fire Breaks Out from Electrical Short Circuit
The blaze reportedly erupted around 11:45 am due to a short circuit in the residential building. The fire spread rapidly through the structure, sending thick black smoke billowing into the air and causing panic in the neighborhood. Residents reported hearing desperate cries for help coming from the terrace, where the family was trapped amid intensifying flames.
Brave Rescue Operation Amid Challenging Conditions
Upon receiving information about the emergency, Khajrana police station in-charge Manoj Sendhav immediately rushed to the scene with his team. Finding the fire intensifying and access to the building restricted, police personnel joined forces with local residents to launch a daring rescue operation.
Braving dense smoke and intense heat, the rescue team managed to reach the terrace and successfully brought 32-year-old Neha Yadav and her three children to safety. The rescued children included 12-year-old Avni Yadav, five-year-old Akshita, and two-year-old Abhyansh.
Infrastructure Challenges Hamper Firefighting Efforts
While teams from the civic body, fire brigade, and electricity department also reached the area, residents pointed out significant challenges that hampered firefighting efforts. Alleged encroachments and extended platforms outside houses had narrowed the lanes, making it difficult for fire tenders to access the site effectively.
Local residents emphasized that the immediate intervention by police and citizens prevented what could have turned into a fatal incident, highlighting the importance of community response in emergency situations.
Aftermath and Safety Recommendations
The rescued family was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for a medical check-up and was later reported to be out of danger. The fire was eventually brought under control by the combined efforts of all responding teams.
Following the incident, police officials urged residents to prioritize electrical safety measures and maintain clear access lanes in densely populated areas. "Proper electrical maintenance and unobstructed emergency access are crucial to preventing such dangerous situations," emphasized authorities, who noted that the narrow lanes caused by encroachments significantly delayed firefighting equipment from reaching the blaze quickly.
