A social media influencer from Indore has found himself on the wrong side of the law after a video of him allegedly misbehaving with a police officer and obstructing government work went viral. The incident, which took place in the Heera Nagar area, led to a formal case being registered against the influencer late on Wednesday night.
Viral Video Captures Confrontation
The controversy erupted when a clip surfaced on social media platforms showing the influencer, identified as Sonu alias Pankaj Verma, engaged in a heated argument with Head Constable Gorakh Khem. In the footage, Verma is seen gathering a crowd at the spot and persistently demanding a public apology from the policeman. His conduct, as captured in the video, prompted immediate scrutiny from senior police officials.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Case
According to investigating officers, the situation began when Head Constable Gorakh Khem arrived at the location in response to a Dial 112 emergency call. During the course of his duty, an argument broke out between the constable and the influencer. It is alleged that Verma not only pushed the police officer but also announced his identity as a social media personality.
Despite the ongoing police action, the influencer reportedly continued to record the scene on his phone, insisted on an apology, and attempted to hinder the official proceedings. This alleged obstruction of government work became the central point of the complaint.
Police Take Swift Action
Senior police authorities took prompt notice of the viral video. Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotia commented that the behavior displayed in the footage was unacceptable. Acting on the instructions of these senior officers, Head Constable Gorakh Khem submitted a written formal complaint.
After reviewing the viral footage and the complaint, the Heera Nagar police formally registered a case against Sonu alias Pankaj Verma. The charges pertain to obstructing a public servant from discharging their official duties. The case highlights the legal boundaries for social media personalities and the consequences of interfering with law enforcement operations.
