Indore LPG Scam: Gas Agency Worker Vanishes After Collecting 30 Empty Cylinders
In a shocking incident from Indore, a gas agency worker has been accused of orchestrating a fraudulent scheme involving LPG cylinders, leaving dozens of households in distress. The case emerged from the Banganga area amid swirling rumors of an LPG shortage in the city.
Details of the Fraudulent Operation
According to police reports, the accused, identified as Mukesh Sonone, was an employee associated with a gas point godown. He allegedly approached customers, claiming that their refill turn had arrived and assuring them of quick delivery. Using this deceptive pretext, Sonone collected empty cylinders from 30 consumers.
However, he failed to supply the promised filled cylinders and subsequently disappeared. The matter came to light after complaints began piling up against him, with affected customers reporting that neither were their cylinders returned nor did Sonone respond to their calls.
Escalation and Police Involvement
The situation escalated when customers started following up for their refills, only to find Sonone's mobile phone switched off and his whereabouts unknown. Officials confirmed that he has not reported to work since March 22, and attempts to trace him at his residence have been unsuccessful.
The complainant alleged that the cylinders linked to the agency were illegally sold in the black market, raising concerns about the broader implications of such fraud. After verifying details from the affected customers, the gas agency approached the police and filed a formal complaint.
Customer Protests and Formal Complaint
Tension briefly flared outside the godown a few days ago when aggrieved customers gathered and protested over the non-delivery of their gas cylinders. This public outcry prompted the agency to lodge a formal complaint against its own employee, highlighting the severity of the issue.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Rubina Mizwani stated that the case involves clear allegations of cheating, as Sonone exploited customer trust for personal gain.

In response, Banganga police registered a case of cheating against Mukesh Sonone on Thursday and have launched a comprehensive search operation to trace him. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to uncover the full extent of the scam and recover the missing cylinders.
