The theft, which occurred in the Chimanganj Mandi police station area, was captured by a surveillance system, leading to the swift identification and apprehension of the suspect by local authorities.
CCTV Footage Reveals Selective Theft
The woman first noticed her innerwear missing from the clothesline where it was hung to dry alongside other garments. Suspicious of foul play, the family reviewed footage from their CCTV camera, which clearly showed the accused, identified as Amit Malviya, approaching the clothesline. According to the police complaint, the footage depicted Malviya selectively picking only the woman's innerwear, carefully placing it into the pocket of his denim trousers, and then quietly departing the scene, leaving all other clothing untouched.
The family promptly reported the incident to the Chimanganj Mandi police station, providing the CCTV clip as concrete evidence. Acting on this complaint, officers launched an investigation and were able to trace Malviya to the same neighborhood where the complainant resides, facilitating his quick arrest.
Accused Claims One-Sided Love and Displays Tattoo
During police questioning, the accused made a startling confession. Chimanganj Mandi station in-charge Gajendra Pachauri stated that Malviya claimed to be in a one-sided love with the woman. Furthermore, he revealed that he had even gotten her name tattooed on his chest, indicating a prolonged and obsessive fixation.
