Indore Police Crack Down on Vehicle Theft Gang, Recover Stolen Motorcycles
In a significant breakthrough, the Indore police have successfully apprehended a vehicle theft ring, leading to the arrest of two individuals and a juvenile. The operation resulted in the recovery of thirteen stolen motorcycles, with an estimated total value of approximately Rs 14 lakh. Routine Patrol Leads to Major Discovery
The arrests were made during a routine patrol and checking of suspicious individuals in the Tukoganj area. A police team noticed a youth sitting on a motorcycle near the premises of an insurance office, which raised immediate suspicion. Upon closer inspection and verification of the vehicle's documents and number plate, it was discovered that the registration details were fake and forged, as confirmed by an official police release.
Confessions and Modus Operandi Unveiled
When questioned by the authorities, the accused confessed to their involvement in multiple vehicle thefts across Indore. They admitted to stealing vehicles from prominent locations such as Vijay Nagar, MIG, MG Road, and various other parts of the city. The accused have been identified as 23-year-old Mohit Ginwal, 18-year-old Prashant Marmat, and a juvenile, who worked together as a coordinated team.
Their modus operandi involved:
- Roaming around the city to identify new and expensive vehicles for potential theft.
- Conducting thorough reconnaissance to assess security vulnerabilities.
- Positioning themselves strategically at different locations to execute the thefts without drawing attention.
Recovery of Stolen Vehicles from Hidden Spots
The police investigation revealed that the stolen motorcycles were discreetly parked at several isolated spots to avoid detection. These locations included:
- The parking area near the insurance office where the initial suspect was spotted.
- The deserted area behind Palasia mosque.
- Under Rajkumar Bridge.
- Nigam Market in Ballabhnagar.
