Indore Police Apprehend Repeat Offender in Major Illegal Liquor Bust Following Community Tip
In a significant enforcement action, Indore police have arrested a habitual offender in possession of a substantial quantity of illegal liquor, thanks to crucial information provided during a neighbourhood committee meeting. The operation underscores the effectiveness of community policing initiatives in tackling unlawful activities.
Community Policing Initiative Leads to Breakthrough
The arrest stems from an ongoing community policing program spearheaded by Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh. This initiative aims to strengthen coordination between law enforcement and residents, fostering a collaborative environment to curb crime and illegal trade. Regular meetings are organized where police officers interact directly with locals to gather intelligence about suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods.
During a recent meeting in the Banganga area, residents raised concerns about the suspected sale and storage of illicit liquor in Bhawani Nagar. Acting swiftly on this tip, DCP Zone-3 Rajesh Vyas directed the Banganga police station to investigate and take immediate action.
Raid Uncovers Substantial Illegal Stock
A dedicated police team was formed and informants were activated to verify the information. Based on the confirmed tip-off, officers conducted a raid at the house of Sandeep, also known as Arjun Thakur or Arjun Panwar, in Bhawani Nagar.
During a thorough search of the premises, police recovered 373 quarters of illegal country-made liquor, totaling 64.14 bulk litres. The accused was unable to produce any valid licence or documentation authorizing possession of the stock, confirming its illicit nature.
Accused is a Known Repeat Offender
Police officials revealed that the arrested individual, Sandeep, is a habitual offender with multiple criminal cases registered against him in the past. His history of involvement in unlawful activities highlights the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in dealing with repeat offenders.
A case has been registered under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act, and the accused has been taken into custody. The arrest not only removes a key player from the illegal liquor trade but also sends a strong message about the consequences of such activities.

Further investigation is currently underway to trace the source of the confiscated liquor and identify other individuals involved in the supply chain. Police are determined to dismantle the network supporting this illegal trade, ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice.
