Indore Police Arrest Two Youths with Illegal Pistol During Hotspots Check
In a significant crackdown on criminal activities, Indore police have arrested two youths after intercepting them during a routine hotspots checking drive in the Bhanwarkuan area. The police recovered an illegal country-made pistol along with two live cartridges from the suspects, officials confirmed.
Details of the Police Operation
The action was part of a city-wide initiative aimed at monitoring criminal elements and preventing potential offences. On March 21, during the checking drive, the police team spotted the two youths, who attempted to flee upon seeing the officers. After a brief chase, the police successfully apprehended them.
Recovery of Illegal Weapons
Upon searching the suspects, the police discovered one country-made pistol and two live cartridges in their possession. The duo, identified as Yash Tank, aged 20, and Nitesh Ghavari, aged 22, both residents of Bhuri Tekri, failed to provide any valid explanation or documentation for carrying the weapon.
Arrest and Legal Action
Due to their inability to justify the possession of the illegal firearm, the youths were arrested under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Police officials stated that preliminary investigations suggest the accused were planning to execute a criminal act, which was averted thanks to the timely intervention of the law enforcement team.
Importance of the Drive
This incident highlights the effectiveness of the police's hotspots checking drive in curbing crime and ensuring public safety in Indore. The proactive measures taken by the authorities have once again demonstrated their commitment to maintaining law and order in the city.
