Indore Teen Dies by Suicide After Father's Scolding

A tragic incident unfolded in the Nuri Nagar area of Ratlam, Indore, on Saturday night, where a 15-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide after being scolded by his father. The Station Road police station ASI, Bablu Daga, reported that the minor's father had reprimanded him upon spotting him loitering with a group of local boys in the evening.

Details of the Heartbreaking Incident

Distressed by the scolding, the boy, identified as Mehmood, returned home in a state of emotional turmoil. He then sat inside a parked autorickshaw on a vacant plot and reportedly cried for an extended period before taking the extreme step. Neighbours later discovered the unconscious teenager and immediately alerted his mother.

Medical Response and Family's Initial Resistance

Mehmood was rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The tragedy was followed by a brief period of tension at the hospital when the family initially refused to permit a postmortem examination. This refusal created a delicate situation, requiring police intervention to ensure proper procedures were followed.

Police Intervention and Investigation

After counselling and intervention by the police, the family eventually consented to the postmortem. The body was subsequently moved to the medical college mortuary for an autopsy. The Station Road police have registered a case and are investigating all angles related to this unfortunate incident to understand the full circumstances and prevent such tragedies in the future.

This incident highlights the critical importance of mental health awareness and effective communication within families, especially during the vulnerable teenage years. It serves as a somber reminder of the need for supportive environments and timely interventions to address emotional distress among youth.
