In a significant disciplinary move, the Indore Police Department has demoted Ranjeet Singh, the traffic policeman who gained nationwide fame for his unique moonwalking style on the city's streets. The officer, who was serving as an Acting Head Constable, has been officially returned to his original post of Constable following a thorough departmental inquiry.

The demotion stems from serious allegations made by a woman from Mumbai, who accused Singh of engaging in obscene social media conversations and pressuring her to visit Indore to meet him personally. After the initial complaint surfaced, Singh was promptly removed from his field duties and attached to the Police Lines to ensure an impartial investigation could proceed without any interference.
Indore Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), Prakash Parihar, issued the formal order that nullified the promotion granted to Singh back in March 2021. "There were some complaints against Ranjeet Singh, in which he was found guilty, and thus, he was demoted," DCP Parihar confirmed in a statement. While the police have not publicly disclosed the specific details of the misconduct, the order explicitly confirms the cancellation of his acting charge based on the conclusive findings of the headquarters inquiry.
