A tragic incident in Firozabad district has led to the death of a six-month-old infant after his maternal aunt allegedly fell on him during a scuffle over a domestic dispute. The incident occurred in Krishna Nagar area under Firozabad North police station, leading to the arrest of the aunt on Friday.
Details of the Incident
Police reported that the incident took place late Wednesday night. The infant, identified as Tanveer, was left under the care of his maternal aunt, Vandana Kumari, 23, while his parents, Kanhaiya Kumar, an e-rickshaw driver, and Sanjana, had gone to a local fair. Vandana, who is Sanjana's twin sister, was also living with the family.
According to Sanjana's statement to the police, when they returned home around midnight, they found Tanveer crying. They reprimanded Vandana for not feeding him milk, which led to an argument between the sisters. The verbal dispute escalated after Sanjana allegedly slapped Vandana, causing her to lose her balance and fall onto the bed where the infant was lying.
Medical Findings and Legal Action
Tanveer was immediately taken to the district hospital's trauma centre, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. A postmortem examination revealed that the infant had suffered a fracture to the back of his skull, which was identified as the primary cause of death.
Based on Sanjana's complaint, a case was registered under BNS section 105, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. SP (city) Ravi Shanker Prasad confirmed, "Vandana was arrested and produced before the competent court. Further legal proceedings are underway."
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the potential dangers of domestic disputes when children are present. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
