Interstate Burglary Gang Busted in Bijnor, Gold, Cash, and Vehicles Recovered

In a significant crackdown, police in Bijnor have arrested three members of an interstate burglary syndicate, seizing stolen gold, silver, cash, and vehicles connected to a major house theft case. The arrests were announced on Monday following a coordinated operation that spanned several weeks of intensive investigation.

Joint Police Operation Leads to Arrests

The breakthrough came during a joint operation conducted by the Kotwali City police and the SWAT/Surveillance team. Acting on intelligence gathered over weeks of meticulous probing, authorities moved in to apprehend the suspects, marking a crucial victory in the fight against organized crime in the region.

Case Origins: A Major House Theft in March

The case traces back to March 13, when Amit Agrawal, a resident of Yashoda Kunj Colony, filed a complaint reporting that burglars had forcibly entered his locked house. The perpetrators made off with a substantial haul, including gold and silver jewellery along with Rs 5 lakh in cash. Based on this complaint, a formal case was registered, prompting the formation of special police teams dedicated to tracking down the culprits.

Identification and Arrest of Suspects

During the investigation, police identified five suspects hailing from Meerut and Delhi. On Sunday, acting on specific inputs, authorities arrested three individuals:

  • Wasim Akram from Sarava
  • Vinay from Bijauli village under Kharkhauda police station in Meerut
  • Arun Verma, a jeweller from Shastri Nagar under Medical police station in Meerut

From their possession, police seized stolen jewellery, Rs 2.48 lakh in cash, a car used in the criminal activities, and an unnumbered motorcycle. These recoveries provide tangible evidence linking the suspects to the burglary.

Modus Operandi of the Interstate Gang

During interrogation, the accused revealed a sophisticated and calculated modus operandi. The gang specifically targeted locked houses across multiple districts and states. Their process involved:

  1. Conducting surveillance of residential areas to identify potential targets.
  2. Zeroing in on a specific house after careful planning.
  3. Parking their vehicles outside the city to avoid detection.
  4. Using motorcycles to enter localities discreetly.
  5. Breaking locks and stealing valuables from the targeted properties.

To further conceal their crimes, the gang would melt the stolen gold and silver into bricks with the assistance of a jeweller, effectively erasing evidence that could link them to specific thefts.

Widespread Criminal Activities Uncovered

SP (City) Krishna Gopal Singh confirmed that the gang had executed several burglaries in different states, highlighting the interstate nature of their operations. This revelation underscores the broader threat posed by such organized syndicates and the importance of coordinated law enforcement efforts to dismantle them.

The arrests and recoveries in Bijnor represent a significant step in curbing burglary activities in the region, sending a strong message to criminal elements while providing relief to affected residents.
