The daughter of an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer was found murdered in her apartment in southeast Delhi's Amar Colony area on Tuesday, police said.

Incident Details

The victim, identified as 32-year-old Shweta, was found dead in her flat in the Amar Colony area. She was the daughter of an IRS officer posted in the Income Tax Department. Police received a call around 10:30 am about the incident and rushed to the spot.

According to police officials, the victim's body was found with multiple stab wounds. A forensic team has been called in to collect evidence. The flat was locked from inside, and the door had to be broken open by the police.

Investigation Underway

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said, "We have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The body has been sent for post-mortem. We are questioning the neighbors and family members to ascertain the circumstances leading to the murder."

Police are also examining CCTV footage from the area and have formed multiple teams to solve the case. The motive behind the murder is yet to be established.

The victim's father, a senior IRS officer, was reportedly out of town at the time of the incident. He has been informed and is expected to arrive in Delhi soon.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, with residents expressing concern over security in the area. Police have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of residents.
