In a decisive move to counter a persistent wave of security threats, the Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, has issued a strict directive for a zero-tolerance approach towards security lapses. The order was passed on Friday during a high-level review meeting focused on the security of the High Court premises in Jaipur.
Spate of Hoax Threats Triggers High-Level Review
The urgent meeting was convened in response to a concerning series of hoax bomb threats that have targeted the High Court over the past 50 days. Officials revealed that the institution faced a barrage of such threats, including a particularly alarming sequence of six consecutive threats over as many days. This pattern of intimidation prompted the top judiciary to intervene directly.
Comprehensive Security Overhaul Approved
Chairing the meeting, Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma directed the Rajasthan Police, with specific instructions to the Jaipur police, to adopt the strongest possible stance against any security shortcomings. The meeting resulted in concrete decisions to fortify the court's defences significantly.
A senior police officer present stated that it was resolved to further tighten entry and exit protocols across all gates of the High Court complex. To bolster physical security, the deployment of additional security personnel, armed officers, and specialised Quick Response Teams (QRTs) received official approval.
Focus on Technology and Vigilance
Beyond manpower, the security upgrade will heavily rely on technological enhancement. The high-level discussion covered the urgent need for the installation and upgradation of critical equipment.
Key measures include:
- Expanding and modernising the network of CCTV cameras for comprehensive surveillance.
- Ensuring the functionality and efficiency of metal detectors at all entry points.
- Deploying advanced baggage scanners to screen items brought into the complex.
The officer added that clear directions were issued for the regular monitoring and maintenance of all this security apparatus to guarantee its reliability at all times. The overarching command from the Acting Chief Justice leaves no room for complacency, mandating a robust and proactive security posture to safeguard the judiciary, court staff, lawyers, and visitors from potential threats.
