The accused, identified as Surjeet Singh, is accused of using a sword to slit the throat of his wife and then strangling his young daughter while they were asleep on the terrace of their family home.

Gruesome Details of the Nighttime Attack

According to police officials, the tragedy unfolded late at night when the victims, Saroj Devi (35) and her eight-year-old daughter Vanshika, had gone to the rooftop to sleep. Around 12:30 AM, Surjeet Singh allegedly ascended to the terrace armed with a sword. In a brutal assault, he struck his wife Saroj on the throat with the weapon, fatally wounding her.

The commotion reportedly woke the young daughter, Vanshika. Police state that the accused then proceeded to strangle the child, leading to her death. The entire incident occurred while the family was in their own home, adding a layer of domestic terror to the crime.

Accused Spent Night with Bodies Before Confessing

Sources close to the investigation revealed a chilling aftermath. It is alleged that Surjeet Singh spent almost the entire night sitting beside the bodies of his wife and daughter on the terrace. Around 6 AM, local residents spotted the two bodies on the rooftop and immediately alerted the police.

However, by the time authorities were notified, the accused had already left the scene. He reportedly walked into the Mokhampura police station himself, where he confessed to the double homicide. This voluntary confession has become a key element in the ongoing police case.

DSP Dudu Deepak Khandelwal, who is overseeing the case, provided further details about the accused. Surjeet Singh worked a private job with a monthly income of approximately Rs 12,000.
