Jaipur Police Launches Major Crackdown in Mansarovar Slums
In a significant operation aimed at curbing organized crime, the Jaipur City Police deployed specialized resources including dog squads and surveillance drones on Friday. The intensive door-to-door searches conducted in the slum areas surrounding Mansarovar led to substantial seizures of illegal contraband and multiple arrests.
Operation Details and Seizures
The police operation concluded with the arrest of 33 individuals who were allegedly involved in various criminal activities. Among those detained, 18 persons have been formally booked under serious violations of the Arms Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the Excise Act. The remaining 15 individuals were booked under preventive provisions as part of the police's proactive measures against potential criminal activities.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma provided detailed insights into the operation's execution. "Our police teams specifically targeted charge-sheeted individuals and suspects as part of our intensified action against organized crime networks," Varma stated. The operation was meticulously planned based on intelligence gathered over time.
Substantial Contraband Recovered
In the Muhana police station jurisdiction alone, authorities made significant recoveries that included:
- A country-made pistol along with three live cartridges
- 299 quarter bottles of illegal liquor
- Over 25 liters of illicitly manufactured alcohol
Varma emphasized that this targeted action was not random but rather based on a comprehensive database of suspects who have been long involved in various criminal activities. The police have been maintaining detailed records of individuals with criminal histories, which enabled this precise operation.
Ongoing Surveillance and Future Plans
The Jaipur Police have indicated that their efforts against organized crime will continue with increased vigilance. Authorities are actively monitoring individuals suspected of drug peddling activities, as well as those acting as intermediaries between suppliers and customers in the illegal drug trade.
"We are committed to maintaining law and order in the city through such targeted operations," Varma added. The use of modern technology like drones combined with traditional methods like dog squads represents a comprehensive approach to urban policing that the department plans to continue implementing across vulnerable areas.
This operation marks one of the more significant crackdowns in recent months against organized crime networks operating in Jaipur's slum areas, demonstrating the police department's renewed focus on intelligence-based policing and preventive measures.
