Jaipur Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking with Dual Arrests
In a significant crackdown on narcotics operations, the Jaipur Crime Branch conducted two separate raids on Friday, resulting in the arrest of two alleged drug traffickers. The operations led to the seizure of MDMA and smack with a combined street value exceeding ₹14.5 lakh, marking a substantial blow to illegal drug activities in the city.
Details of the Arrests and Seizures
Special Commissioner of Police, Om Prakash, identified the arrested individuals as Moj Vishnoi, aged 27, and Kamlesh Kumar Barala, also known as Lakhan, aged 41. The arrests were made in distinct locations across Jaipur, highlighting the police's targeted efforts to disrupt drug supply chains.
The first operation unfolded in the Mansarovar area, where police acted on specific intelligence about drugs being stored at a rented accommodation in Shri Balaji Vihar, Golyawas. During the raid, authorities recovered 52.08 grams of MDMA, classified as a commercial quantity under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Additionally, ₹10,270 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, was confiscated. A case has been registered under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act at the Narayan Vihar police station.
In the second operation, police responded to intelligence regarding a suspicious individual near Platform No. 2 of the Sindhi Camp bus stand. This led to the arrest of Kamlesh Kumar Barala, from whom 124.05 grams of smack was seized. A case under Sections 8/21 and 8/29 of the NDPS Act has been filed at the Sindhi Camp police station.
Ongoing Investigations and Broader Implications
Police officials have confirmed that both accused are currently undergoing intensive questioning. The primary focus of the interrogation is to trace the supply chains and identify possible links to larger drug networks operating in and around Jaipur. This proactive approach aims to dismantle the infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking in the region.
The successful operations underscore the Jaipur Police's commitment to combating drug-related crimes. By seizing significant quantities of narcotics and apprehending key individuals, law enforcement hopes to curb the distribution and consumption of illegal substances, thereby enhancing public safety.
Authorities urge citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking, emphasizing community cooperation as vital in the fight against narcotics. Further updates on the investigation are expected as police delve deeper into the networks involved.
