Key Accused in Interstate Bride Trafficking Network Apprehended in Jaipur

In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Branch of Rajasthan Police arrested a 35-year-old man carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on Thursday. The arrest was made at Bharat Mata Circle in the Mansarovar area of Jaipur, where police laid a trap based on specific intelligence inputs.

Accused Identified as Mahavir Suthar from Tonk

Police officials identified the arrested individual as Mahavir Suthar, a resident of Uniyara in Tonk district. According to authorities, Suthar was a key operative in an organized interstate bride trafficking racket that specialized in arranging fake marriages and selling brides to unsuspecting victims.

Investigations revealed that Suthar had been evading capture for an extended period by frequently changing his identity and moving between locations. His arrest marks a crucial step in dismantling this criminal network.

Operation Led by Special Investigation Team

The CID special team received actionable intelligence indicating that Mahavir Suthar was hiding in the Mansarovar area. Acting swiftly on this information, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Shailendra Sharma, assisted by Constable Brijesh Sharma, set up a strategic trap and successfully apprehended the accused.

Following his arrest, Suthar was handed over to a police team from Balotra for further legal proceedings and interrogation.

Details of the Fake Marriage Scam and Interstate Network

Police investigations uncovered that Mahavir Suthar was involved in a specific case where he, along with other gang members, allegedly defrauded Magaram, a resident of Balotra, of Rs 2.50 lakh. This fraud occurred through a fake marriage scam orchestrated in September 2023.

Authorities stated that Suthar worked in close coordination with alleged ringleader Bhanwarlal Sharma and another associate named Rahmat Khan. Their criminal activities extended beyond bride trafficking to include systematic fraud and blackmailing of victims.

Widespread Network Across Multiple States

A preliminary police probe suggests that the gang's operations were not confined to Rajasthan alone. Their network reportedly extended to several other states including:

  • Kolkata (West Bengal)
  • Assam
  • Bihar
  • Uttar Pradesh
  • Jharkhand

This interstate dimension highlights the organized nature of the racket and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in tracking such operations.

Ongoing Investigation and Future Actions

Police are currently interrogating Mahavir Suthar to uncover the full extent of the bride trafficking racket. The investigation aims to identify all involved individuals, understand the complete modus operandi, and trace the financial transactions associated with these crimes.

The arrest is expected to provide crucial leads that could help dismantle the entire network and bring other perpetrators to justice. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to thoroughly investigating all aspects of this case to ensure comprehensive legal action against those involved in these serious crimes against vulnerable individuals.
