Tragic Tractor-Trolley Accident in Jaipur Claims Life, Leaves Nephew Critically Injured
A devastating road accident in Jaipur resulted in the death of a 60-year-old woman and left her 28-year-old nephew in critical condition. The incident occurred near Nindar Mod in Harmada on Friday evening, when an out-of-control tractor-trolley ran over the victims as they waited by the roadside.
Details of the Victims and Incident
The deceased has been identified as Nanki Devi, a resident of Nindar Mod, while the injured is her nephew, Mukesh Sain. According to Harmada police, the duo had left their home with a relative to attend a wedding and were standing by the roadside, waiting for a bus, when the tragedy struck.
Officials reported that a stone-laden tractor-trolley, coming from Todi Mod, allegedly swerved to avoid a car approaching from the opposite direction. This sudden manoeuvre caused the driver to lose control, leading the vehicle to hit Nanki and Mukesh directly.
Chaotic Aftermath and Rescue Efforts
After running over the victims, the tractor-trolley continued its destructive path, ramming into a motorcycle and a firecracker stall before crashing into two electricity poles and finally coming to a halt. The incident triggered widespread panic in the area, with locals rushing to assist the injured.
With the help of bystanders, police promptly shifted both victims to SMS Hospital. Tragically, Nanki succumbed to her injuries during treatment on Friday night, while Mukesh remains admitted in critical condition, fighting for his life.
Police Investigation and Driver's Escape
The driver of the tractor-trolley fled the spot immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle at the scene. Police have seized the tractor-trolley and launched an intensive search operation to trace and arrest the fugitive driver.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Saturday morning, and Nanki's body was subsequently handed over to her grieving family. An official from Harmada police stated, "The driver fled from the scene. We are trying to locate him with the help of CCTV footage. A case of rash and reckless driving has been registered. Further investigation is under way."
This tragic event underscores the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations in the region to prevent such accidents in the future.
