Jaisalmer: Man Kidnapped and Beaten to Death in Brutal Attack
A 22-year-old man was kidnapped and beaten to death on Tuesday in the Khuhdi police station area of Jaisalmer. According to police, attackers in two vehicles rammed the motorcycle he was riding with a companion, forced both into a camper vehicle, and later threw the victim by the roadside near Soda village.
The deceased has been identified as Mahavir Singh, a resident of Myajlar. He was found in a critical condition and taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead. A CCTV video of the incident surfaced, showing the accused throwing Mahavir from the vehicle.
Details of the Incident
SP Abhishek Shivhare said, “According to the initial information, Mahavir Singh was going to his home in Myajlar village on Tuesday riding a bike with his companion.” The attackers arrived in two vehicles and rammed their bike, causing both riders to fall. Police said the criminals kidnapped Mahavir and his companion and took them in a camper vehicle. The companion was dropped off on the way, but Mahavir Singh was beaten with kicks, punches, sticks, and rods in the moving vehicle before being thrown near Soda village.
Eyewitness shopkeeper Swaroop Singh said, “Mahavir was lying on the road in a critical condition and was writhing in pain while asking for water. We informed the police. But when the police did not arrive for a long time, the injured Mahavir was taken to the hospital in private vehicles. However, on reaching the hospital, the doctors declared him dead.”
Police Investigation
After news of the death, family members and villagers reached the mortuary. SP Abhishek Shivhare also arrived with police force and gathered information. The SP said the initial investigation suggested the matter was linked to an old enmity. Police set up a blockade, began searching for the accused, and formed separate teams to arrest them. The deceased was engaged in farming.
