Jaisalmer: The Foreign Registration Officer Office (FRO) and the district administration in Jaisalmer have issued a directive to Pakistani citizens who entered India on valid visas and passports but whose visa periods have expired. The advisory instructs them to apply immediately for visa extension or return to Pakistan without delay.
Immediate Action Required
Applicants wishing to return to Pakistan must submit 'Pak Ravangi' (departure to Pakistan) applications to the FRO office as soon as possible. The FRO and district administration stated that all received applications will be forwarded to the state government for further approval and guidelines. Subsequent proceedings regarding permanent residence or return to Pakistan will be conducted in accordance with state government directions and established regulations.
Long Term Visa (LTV) Process
Pakistani minority citizens residing in Jaisalmer district who have not yet applied for a Long Term Visa (LTV) at the FRO are warned to complete the process without delay. The administration emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against those who fail to apply on time.
According to the order, Pakistani minority citizens wishing to stay in India for an extended period, including for permanent residence via LTV, must submit their applications with necessary documents immediately at the Foreign Registration Officer Office in Jaisalmer. Those opting to return to Pakistan are similarly instructed to submit 'Pak Ravangi' applications without delay.
Legal Consequences
The district administration warned that any citizen who does not submit an application within the prescribed time period will be considered an illegal immigrant. Strict legal proceedings will be initiated under Sections 3 and 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, which provide for imprisonment and heavy fines. Eligible individuals are advised to contact the concerned office to avoid legal action.
This directive aims to ensure compliance with immigration laws and maintain order. All affected citizens are urged to act promptly to regularize their status or arrange for departure.
