A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl in Maharashtra's Jalna city, police officials confirmed on Friday. The accused reportedly lured the child with a chocolate before committing the crime.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on Wednesday in the Sadar Bazar police station area. The victim was playing outside her home when the accused, who had previously surveyed the locality, approached her. He returned on a two-wheeler, enticed the child with a chocolate, and took her away to a secluded spot where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Police Action and Arrest
After the assault, the accused left the girl outside her house. Her family immediately filed a complaint at the Sadar Bazar police station. A medical examination confirmed the rape. Police examined CCTV footage from the area, which led to the identification and arrest of the man.
Legal Proceedings
The accused was produced before a local court on Thursday, which remanded him to five days of police custody. Deputy Superintendent of Police Anant Kulkarni stated that the investigation is ongoing.
