Teenager Arrested in Jammu Terror Plot

Jammu Police made a significant breakthrough on Thursday by apprehending a 19-year-old youth who was allegedly planning and attempting to execute a terror attack in the region. The arrest comes amid growing suspicions that the suspect had established connections with Pakistan-based handlers who were guiding his activities.

Police officials identified the accused as a resident of Reasi district who had been residing in the Bathindi area of Jammu. The young man has emerged as the primary suspect in FIR No. 331/2025 registered at Bahu Fort Police Station. The case has been filed under Section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), marking one of the early applications of the new legal framework.

Digital Radicalization and Foreign Connections

According to preliminary investigation findings, the teenager appears to have been radicalized through online channels. Investigators have uncovered evidence suggesting he was in regular communication with phone numbers traced back to Pakistan and several other foreign countries.

Law enforcement agencies have seized all digital devices belonging to the suspect for comprehensive forensic examination. The electronic evidence is expected to reveal the extent of his online radicalization and the nature of his foreign connections. Intensive interrogation of the suspect is currently underway to uncover additional details about the planned attack and potential accomplices.

Simultaneous Crackdown on Banned Organization

In a separate but related development, Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted extensive raids at multiple locations across the Kashmir Valley as part of its ongoing crackdown on the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) organization.

The coordinated search operations spanned across five districts: Anantnag, Pulwama, Budgam, Kulgam, and Kupwara. Police teams targeted residential premises and other sites linked to JeI members and their associates.

Officials stated that the operation aims to dismantle the terror ecosystem and its support structures in the region. The raids were conducted following credible intelligence inputs regarding ongoing anti-national activities being coordinated by the banned outfit.

During the searches, authorities recovered and seized numerous electronic gadgets, documents, and literature for further scrutiny. In Kupwara's Handwara area, special attention was given to the Jamia Islamia Institute in Waripora due to suspicions about unlawful activities and potential connections with the banned organization.

The simultaneous operations highlight the security forces' determined approach to combating terrorism from multiple angles - both by intercepting individual plots and dismantling organizational support networks that enable such activities in the region.
