A late-night quest for dinner turned fatal for two young men in Jamshedpur, as a devastating collision with a heavy vehicle claimed their lives. The tragic incident has once again cast a harsh spotlight on road safety and the critical importance of helmets.
Details of the Jugsalai Road Accident
The accident occurred in the Jugsalai area late on Friday night. The victims, identified as Krish (19) and Abhay (26), both residents of Adityapur colony, were on their way to the Tatanagar railway station chowk for a meal. According to police reports, they were riding a motorcycle, with two other friends on another bike ahead of them.
As they neared the railway crossing gate at Jugsalai, a dumper truck coming from the opposite direction, reportedly at high speed, rammed into their bike. The force of the impact was catastrophic, throwing both youths onto the road.
Rescue Efforts and Fatal Outcome
Eyewitnesses, including pedestrians and other motorists, immediately rushed to the scene to help the injured boys and alerted the police. Personnel from the Jugsalai police station responded swiftly. They rescued the critically injured youths and rushed them to MGMMCH (Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital) for urgent medical treatment.
Despite the efforts, both Krish and Abhay could not be saved. They succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Police stated that the combination of multiple serious injuries and profuse blood loss led to their deaths.
Police Investigation and Safety Lapse
Sanjay Janak Purty, the in-charge of Jugsalai police station, provided crucial details about the case. He confirmed that preliminary information indicates the bike was hit by the dumper. A formal investigation into the exact circumstances is currently underway.
In a critical revelation that underscores a common safety failure, Purty confirmed that neither of the young men was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the collision. This detail highlights a persistent and deadly disregard for traffic rules that continues to cost lives on Indian roads.
The community of Adityapur and Jamshedpur is in mourning following this sudden loss of two young lives. The incident serves as a grim reminder for all two-wheeler riders about the non-negotiable necessity of wearing a helmet, regardless of the distance or time of travel.
