In a significant breakthrough, police personnel in East Singhbhum district have successfully cracked a high-value burglary case, leading to the arrest of four individuals and the recovery of stolen gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs 16 lakh.
Details of the Pokhari Burglary
The incident took place on November 29 this year in the Pokhari area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the MGM police station. According to SP (Rural) Rishab Garg, the burglars targeted the home of Mahesh Gaud while he and his family were away attending a marriage function. The thieves made off with a substantial haul, including gold jewellery, two mobile phones, and several personal care items.
Investigation and Arrests
A special investigation team, led by DSP (Patamda range) Bachan Deo Kujur, was formed to tackle the case. The team employed a multi-pronged approach, combining human intelligence, technical surveillance, and crucial evidence from CCTV footage. Their diligent efforts paid off, culminating in the apprehension of all the accused on Saturday. The arrested individuals were subsequently sent to jail on the same day.
The Accused and Their Roles
Police have identified the prime accused as Sundar Kujur (19) and Rohit Gope (20), both residents of the Ulidih police station limits in Mango. Their alleged role was to execute the actual theft. After lifting the items, they reportedly handed them over to Manish Rai (25), a resident of the rural Boram thana area, with the intention of selling the stolen goods. SP Garg revealed that Manish then sold a gold chain to Vicky Singh (35), also from Ulidih, for a mere Rs 10,000, a fraction of its actual value.
The swift action by the East Singhbhum police highlights their commitment to tackling property crimes in the region. The recovery of the high-value stolen property brings relief to the victim and serves as a warning to criminal elements operating in the Kolhan region.
