The tragedy occurred on Thursday evening as Dhyani was commuting home, with his family now launching serious allegations against Delhi Police for what they describe as gross negligence during the frantic search for their missing relative.
Family's Harrowing Search and Allegations
Dhyani's brother recounted the terrifying sequence of events, revealing that his last conversation with Kamal occurred when the young man was just ten minutes from home. "When I called again at 12:30 AM and he didn't pick up, we immediately became worried and began searching," the brother stated. What followed was a nightmarish ordeal that saw family members visiting six different police stations seeking assistance.
The family's frustration mounted as they claimed police provided inadequate support. "The police gave us his last location, but we couldn't find him. This is gross negligence. My brother would not deliberately crash into a pit," the brother emphasized. He revealed that they had actually checked the excavation site at 1:30 AM but found nothing, leading to questions about when exactly the accident occurred.
A close friend of Dhyani provided additional disturbing details about the police response. According to the friend, officers informed them that a formal missing person report could not be filed until 11 AM the following day. While police did track Dhyani's mobile phone signal, they allegedly refused to share specific coordinates with the searching family and friends.

The friend described how seven individuals searched the area from midnight to 7 AM without success. "On our request, police traced his location and asked us to search within a 200-metre radius," he explained. The search party meticulously combed the District Centre area and surrounding locations, with the pit being checked at 1 AM and the road monitored throughout the night.
"If the police had acted on time, my brother would be alive," Dhyani's brother asserted, capturing the family's anguish and frustration. The friend criticized law enforcement for ignoring the emergency's critical nature by withholding precise tracking data during the search operation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Bhaskar addressed the allegations, promising a thorough investigation into both the police response and the circumstances surrounding the open excavation. According to Bhaskar, the pit had been dug for Delhi Jal Board work and proved fatal when Dhyani's motorcycle fell into it on Monday night.
Bhaskar confirmed that Dhyani's brother approached the Janakpuri police station around 2:45 AM after Kamal failed to return home. Police then tracked the victim's mobile phone, which last showed his location near Janakpuri District Park. A head constable, along with family members, searched the area for nearly two-and-a-half hours but found nothing.
The matter came to light around 8 AM when a woman informed police about a body lying in the 15-foot-deep pit. Bhaskar stated that while records show the family visited the Janakpuri police station, allegations that help was sought from multiple police stations would be examined. An FIR is being registered, and efforts are underway to retrieve the motorcycle from the pit.
