Jhajjar hosts yoga marathon and Viksit Bharat meet

Jhajjar: Marking 12 years of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union government and ahead of the 12th International Day of Yoga, Jhajjar on Monday hosted a district-level Yoga Marathon and Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan, drawing public representatives, officials, students and citizens.

The yoga marathon commenced from Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati Sports Stadium under the themes ‘Yoga-Yukt Haryana, Nasha-Mukt Haryana' and ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing'. The event was flagged off by BJP national secretary and former Haryana minister Om Prakash Dhankhar, who also joined participants on the route, promoting physical fitness, healthy living and awareness against substance abuse.

Addressing the gathering, Dhankhar described yoga as India's timeless civilisational gift to the world and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with elevating it into a global movement through the International Day of Yoga. He urged young people to embrace sports and wellness activities while staying away from drugs and other harmful addictions.

Deputy commissioner Varsha Khangwal said yoga goes beyond physical exercise and serves as a holistic lifestyle practice that strengthens mental, emotional and physical well-being. She appealed to residents to participate in large numbers in the district-level International Yoga Day celebrations scheduled for June 21.

Later, the focus shifted to the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan at Jhajjar Samvad Bhawan, where speakers highlighted the Centre's governance initiatives and the roadmap towards a developed India by 2047.
