The Jhajjar police have claimed a breakthrough in the murder case of a man from Subana village in the district with the arrest of two men, stating that the killing was the result of an old personal rivalry rather than any gang-related conflict. The arrested accused have been sent to six-day police remand for further interrogation.
Details of the Murder
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Jhajjar Commissioner of Police (CP) Rajshree Singh said Hitesh alias Gullu was shot dead outside his house in Subana village on the night of May 15. Following the murder, multiple police teams were formed to trace the attackers.
Arrests Made
The police said that acting on technical surveillance, CCTV footage analysis, and confidential inputs, two accused — Ankit alias Bania and Anuj — were arrested in connection with the case. Both were produced before a local court in Jhajjar, which remanded them to six days of police custody.
Motive Behind the Killing
According to the commissioner of police, the investigation has revealed that the murder was linked to a 2022 firing case registered at Machhroli police station. In that case, Hitesh and some of his associates had been booked under charges related to attempted murder, criminal intimidation, and common intention. They were accused of opening fire on some persons identified as Pradeep, Dikesh, and Sonu, besides allegedly issuing death threats to others involved in the dispute.
Police further stated that Hitesh was out on bail in the earlier case. Preliminary interrogation suggests that the accused allegedly plotted the murder to avenge the old rivalry. The investigators also found that Hitesh and Dikesh were once close friends, but their relationship later turned hostile following a dispute.
Ongoing Investigation
The police commissioner said raids were underway to nab other accused involved in the conspiracy. The police are also trying to recover the weapons used in the crime and uncover the entire chain of events linked to the murder plot.
