Jhangur Gang Chief Surrenders Before Police in Jharkhand

The chief of the notorious Jhangur gang, an organized crime syndicate, surrendered before the Ranchi and Gumla police along with two active members on Saturday, police said. The three individuals also laid down two automatic arms, 45 cartridges, two magazines, and other articles.

Details of the Surrender

Among those who surrendered were gang leader Ramdeo Oroan (47), and members Prasad Oroan (24) and Subash Oroan (23), all natives of Gumla district. Ramdeo is an accused in 29 criminal cases, and the state government had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for his arrest.

Police Operation

On Saturday evening, police informed that Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan received intelligence that Ramdeo, along with his accomplices, was moving in the border area of the district with the intention to surrender under the state government's policy. Similar inputs were also received by the Gumla district police. Police teams from both districts were dispatched to the border areas to locate the criminals.

Criminal Background

Ramdeo was accused in 10 murder cases, in addition to charges of attempted murder, theft, and violations of the Arms Act. Most of these cases were registered at the Bishunpur and Ghaghra police stations in Gumla district. Prasad is accused in two cases, including one of murder.
