A shocking incident unfolded in Jhansi when a hotel owner and his associates allegedly axed a 45-year-old man to death and critically injured his 65-year-old uncle late Friday night. The accused are currently on the run, and police have launched a manhunt to apprehend them.
Background of the Dispute
According to Esha, the daughter of the deceased, her father Gouri Shankar Kushwaha worked as an electrician and resided near Pal Colony. The workers and owner of the nearby Shivani Hotel frequently consumed alcohol and urinated near his house, which Kushwaha objected to due to religious functions held at his home. About a year ago, this objection escalated into a fight, prompting Kushwaha to file a police complaint. Since then, the accused harbored a grudge against him.
The Attack
On Friday night, a sudden power outage prompted Kushwaha and his uncle Murari Lal to visit the local powerhouse to inquire. As they were returning past midnight, hotel owner Anand Yadav, along with Chirag, Rinku, Saurabh, and a few unidentified individuals, ambushed them and attacked with an axe. The victims managed to reach home, where Kushwaha collapsed on the lap of his eight-month-pregnant wife. An ambulance was called, and both were rushed to Jhansi Medical College, where Kushwaha succumbed to his injuries. Murari Lal remains in critical condition.
Police Response
SP City Preeti Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections. Several individuals have been detained for questioning, and efforts are underway to capture the main suspects.
