Jhansi Man Apprehended After Police Encounter for Alleged Double Murder
In a shocking incident from Jhansi, a 40-year-old man has been arrested following a police encounter late Thursday. The accused, identified as Chaturbhuj Patel alias Deepak, is alleged to have murdered his 35-year-old live-in partner and her 3-year-old son in a brutal crime that has sent shockwaves through the community.
Encounter Leads to Arrest of Accused Gig Worker
The dramatic arrest unfolded near Baraitha village when police attempted to intercept Patel, who was riding a motorcycle. According to authorities, Patel, who worked as a gig worker in Jhansi, opened fire on the police team. In retaliation, the police fired back, hitting him in the leg, which led to his capture.
Gruesome Details of the Crime Emerge
During interrogation, Chaturbhuj Patel provided chilling details of the murders. He stated that after the death of his first wife, he married Hemlata, but the couple separated due to marital disputes. Subsequently, he connected with Nilu, a single mother who previously lived in Gurugram.
Patel brought Nilu to the village a couple of weeks ago, and they began living together in a rented accommodation. The situation turned violent on Friday night when Patel admitted to having a fight with Nilu. In a fit of rage, he killed her with an axe.
Tragically, the violence did not end there. During the incident, Nilu's 3-year-old son woke up and started crying incessantly. Irritated by the child's cries, Patel allegedly killed the boy as well.
Attempt to Conceal the Crime
Patel kept both bodies in the home throughout Saturday, planning to dispose of them under cover of darkness. In a gruesome attempt to hide Nilu's identity, he mutilated her face before dumping her body near the main road outside the village. The boy's body was burned, and the remains were concealed inside a haystack on a nearby farm.
Nilu's body was discovered on Sunday near the village road, prompting the police investigation that ultimately led to Patel's arrest.
Police Investigation and Mission Shakti Role
SP Rural Arvind Kumar highlighted the crucial role played by Lehchura SO Sarita Mishra in solving the case. "She took help from the Mission Shakti complaint register to solve the case," Kumar said. "She got a crucial lead in identifying the accused through it."
The encounter was supervised by Mishra along with the SWAT team, demonstrating coordinated police efforts. The accused has since been sent to jail as the legal process moves forward.
This tragic case underscores the severe consequences of domestic disputes and highlights the importance of police initiatives like Mission Shakti in addressing violence against women and children. The community remains in shock as details of this horrific crime continue to emerge.
