In a significant drug bust, authorities in Jhansi have apprehended two individuals and confiscated a large quantity of banned narcotics. A collaborative operation between the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the local police led to the arrests and seizure.

Arrests and Seizure Details

The joint team arrested a 58-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, both hailing from Rajasthan. Police seized approximately 1 kilogram of morphine, a prohibited contraband, with an estimated street value of Rs 1 crore. The duo was allegedly transporting the drugs for delivery in Ghazipur.

Operation and Surveillance

Circle Officer (City) Laxmikant Gautam stated that the police acted on a specific tip-off. Following this information, the joint team heightened their surveillance efforts. They successfully intercepted the accused near a petrol pump in the Kotchabhawar area of Jhansi, close to the local bus stand.

ANTF In-charge Chandan Pandey and Navabad Police Station In-charge Ravi Srivastava were instrumental in nabbing the suspects. During a search, officials discovered the morphine cleverly concealed within the clothing of the arrested individuals.

Legal Action and Ongoing Probe

A formal case has been registered against the accused under Sections 8, 21, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Circle Officer Gautam emphasized that the investigation is actively pursuing further leads.

"We are diligently working to uncover details about the intended dealers in Ghazipur and trace the original source of this narcotic," Gautam said. The arrested persons are residents of Patri Girdharpur village in the Jhalawar district of Rajasthan.
