Jhansi Police Seize Rs 1 Crore Morphine, Arrest Two

Police in Jhansi made a significant drug bust on Monday. A joint team from the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and the local police force arrested two individuals and seized a large quantity of morphine.

Major Narcotics Seizure in Jhansi

The operation resulted in the confiscation of one kilogram of contraband morphine. Authorities estimate the street value of the seized drugs at approximately one crore rupees.

Arrests Made Near Bus Stand

Officers apprehended a 58-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man. Both arrested individuals hail from Rajasthan. Specifically, they come from Patri Girdharpur village in the Jhalawar district.

The arrests took place near a petrol pump in the Kotchabhawar area. This location is close to the Jhansi bus stand. Police acted on a specific tip-off, which led to increased surveillance in the area.

Drugs Concealed in Clothing

During a search following the arrest, police discovered the morphine. The accused had hidden the narcotic substance within their clothing.

Circle Officer Laxmikant Gautam stated that the consignment was intended for delivery to Ghazipur. Police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation is now focused on uncovering more details. Officers are working to identify the dealers in Ghazipur who were supposed to receive the drugs.

Authorities are also trying to trace the origin point of the narcotics. They aim to find the source from which the morphine was originally obtained.

This seizure represents a major success for the joint police and ANTF team in curbing drug trafficking in the region.
