Jharkhand Jaguar to Establish 10-Bed Hospital for Injured Personnel in Anti-Maoist Operations

In a significant development for the security forces in Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ) premises in Tendergram will soon be equipped with a 10-bed hospital. This announcement was made by Director General of Police (DGP) Tadasha Mishra on Thursday during the force's 18th establishment day celebrations. The facility is specifically designed to provide medical care for personnel who sustain injuries during operations against left-wing extremists, commonly referred to as Maoists.

Specialized Force's Role and Achievements

The Jharkhand Jaguar is a specialized unit within the state police, dedicated to combating left-wing extremism. Since its formation in 2008, the force has been instrumental in curbing Maoist activities across the region. DGP Mishra praised the unit, highlighting its impressive track record: over 50 extremists have been eliminated and 300 others arrested. She emphasized that the JJ, which comprises 35 assault groups and 12 bomb detection and disposal squads (BBDDS), is actively operating in areas like Saranda and has played a key role in flushing out outlaws from critical hubs.

These operations have been conducted in collaboration with paramilitary forces in locations such as the Chaibasa-Saraikela-Khunti tri-junction, Budha Pahar, Jhumra Hills, Lugu Pahar, and the Parasnath Hills. The force's efforts have been pivotal in enhancing security and stability in these Maoist-affected zones.

Current Healthcare Challenges and New Hospital Benefits

Currently, the JJ campus only has a primary health centre that lacks a doctor, posing significant challenges for medical emergencies. Inspector General of the Special Task Force, Anup Birthary, pointed out that this new hospital will address this gap by not only treating injuries from anti-extremist operations but also handling cases like malaria, which frequently affects personnel during such missions. Additionally, the hospital will serve the families residing on the campus, providing care for diseases and emergencies such as heart attacks.

The establishment of this hospital marks a crucial step in supporting the health and well-being of the JJ personnel, who often face hazardous conditions in their line of duty. It underscores the state's commitment to ensuring that those on the front lines against extremism have access to timely and adequate medical facilities.

Celebrating 18 Years of Service

The announcement came as part of the JJ's 18th establishment day festivities, where DGP Mishra formally attended a function to commemorate the occasion. This milestone reflects the force's enduring dedication and contributions to maintaining law and order in Jharkhand. The new hospital is expected to enhance operational efficiency by reducing health-related risks for the personnel, thereby strengthening their ability to combat left-wing extremism effectively.

As the Jharkhand Jaguar continues its vital work, this initiative highlights the ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and support systems for security forces in challenging environments.
