A fast-track court in Jind district delivered a strong verdict on Thursday. The court sentenced a school principal to twenty years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl.
Court Imposes Heavy Sentence and Fine
Additional District and Sessions Judge Chander Hass pronounced the judgment. The court imposed a fine of twenty-five thousand rupees on the convict, Yashpal. If he fails to pay this amount, he will face additional jail time.
How the Crime Came to Light
The survivor's mother filed a formal police complaint on August 10, 2024. Her ten-year-old daughter was a Class IV student at a private school in Jind.
The girl returned home one day complaining of pain in her stomach and legs. Her parents questioned her about the discomfort.
The young girl then revealed a horrifying truth. She said the school principal, Yashpal, had taken her to a bathroom. He used the pretext of showing her the school's new hall.
Once there, he sexually assaulted her. The principal threatened the child. He warned her not to tell anyone about the incident.
Police Action and Legal Charges
Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Yashpal. They invoked several serious sections of the law.
- Charges were filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 127(2) for rape and 65(2) for wrongful confinement.
- The case also included charges under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, specifically Section 6.
Authorities arrested the principal promptly. The case proceeded through the judicial system and reached the fast-track court for trial.
The Survivor's Trauma and Disclosure
The court documents reveal the child's immense suffering. After the assault, she returned home and initially kept silent, bearing the trauma alone.
The situation reached a breaking point later. Her parents were arguing at home. Overwhelmed, the young girl broke down in tears.
"I have no peace anywhere," she told them. "Not at school, and not at home either."
Her concerned parents asked her to explain. It was then that she narrated the entire incident of the sexual assault. The family immediately approached the Jind police and lodged the formal complaint that started the legal process.
The fast-track court concluded the trial and announced its verdict, delivering a measure of justice for the survivor.
